Media Skills Training

It used to be that businesses had one or two spokespeople who dealt with the media. They faced the 'heat', dealt with questions (hostile or not) and were the public face of the company. That may still be the case in your company.

More often than not these days, there are lots of people who are the public 'voice' and 'face' of organisations. Sometimes they have a grounding in media skills and know how to handle even the toughest media interview; sometimes they don't and the results can be embarrassing, even potentially disastrous.

You may have people in your company who have to 'meet the press' on a regular basis.

You may have people who have to field media queries or in turn, have to create media interest and excitement.

You may have people who have to deal with emergencies, unexpected crises and need to be well-prepared to ensure they aren't wrong-footed by the media or manoeuvred into saying something they shouldn't or simply don't want to reveal at this time.

You may have a launch, a big event, a campaign coming up and you want to grab the media's attention.

There are all sorts of reasons to develop your people's media skills; making sure your spokespeople feel confident and capable is probably the key one.

How the Media Works

Just knowing how the media works and what they are trying to achieve is a tremendous first step towards being able to carry off these tricky situations and come out looking good.

If you feel confident that you can handle any attempt, by whichever media, to wrong foot you, you are more likely to project the right image for you and your organisation and get the maximum impact from any media coverage.

This media training programme looks at how to master the art of dealing with the media.

We can tackle anything from a full scale Paxman interview right down to the local newspaper.

Practising your Media Skills

You'll practise with an experienced broadcaster and interviewer, dealing head on with the sorts of things that the media is likely to throw at you. You'll learn the golden rules for interview that are taken from the techniques the interviewers themselves use on a daily basis.

The people we remember most from media interviews tend to be those who can express knowledge of their subject clearly and succinctly with passion and conviction.

The opportunity to appear on television or radio will not happen very often, so let us help you with a Media Skills Training Programme that will enable you to make the most of the media exposure and, above all, to enjoy it.
